After dropping two disappointing matches in Minnesota over the past week, the Timbers bounced back nicely with a 3-1 win over Cascadia Cup rival, Vancouver Whitecaps.

Timbers midfielder Sebastian Blanco opened the scoring in the 28th minute when he drilled a shot from distance off the hands of diving Whitecaps goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau and into the net. Marvin Loria, had a beautiful left-footed shot from distance into the back of the net to give Portland a decisive 2-1 lead in the 2nd half, and Jeremy Ebobisse put the nail in the coffin with a goal in the 90th minute to extend the Timbers lead to 3-1.

The Timbers now sit two points out of playoff position in eighth place in the Western Conference standings with 11 games left in the regular season. They have 10 of their next 11 matches at home.

Up next, Portland hosts Chicago on Wednesday night from Providence Park.
