After not winning a match for their first six matches of the season, the Timbers have now won two matches in a row with a 2-1 win over Toronto FC in Toronto this afternoon. The Timbers played their best match of the season as they looked in sync and confident from the opening kick.

Portland did concede the first goal on a corner kick from Toronto, but it took them just minutes to respond. Bill Tuiloma had one of the best goals you will see this season, as he hit an incredible volley off a corner kick that Toronto’s goalie had no chance to stop.

In the second half, Portland dominated possession from the get go and they were finally rewarded in the 70th minute. On a counter attack the ball found the left foot of Sebastian Blanco as he hit a beautiful cross into the box that Jeremy Ebobisse headed into the back of the net to take a 2-1 lead. From there the Timbers played fantastic defense and held on for their 2nd straight win.

Portland now has seven points on the season and they are right back in the playoff hunt. They only have four more road matches left before they finally get to go home to Providence Park. They head to Utah next Saturday to take on Real Salt Lake at 6pm. You can listen to that match right here on 102.9 and 750 the Game.
