The Portland Timbers were in Los Angeles taking on LAFC in their 2nd game of the MLS season.

After a great save by Timbers goalie Jeff Antinella, LAFC got a goal from the ensuing corner kick by Mark-Anthony Kaye in the 14th minute.

15 minutes later the Timbers answered off a Jeremy Ebobisee header from a beautiful Diego Valeri free kick.

But just before half, LAFC was able to take the 2-1 lead.

The Timbers had chances early in the 2nd half but were unable to capitalize. It came back to bite them as in the 65th minute LAFC was able to put a 3rd goal on the board.

Just minutes later LAFC put a 4th goal on the board and the rout was on.

In the 71st minute, Timber midfielder Diego Chara was shown his 2nd yellow card of the day, and was sent off. That was essentially the final nail in the coffin for the Timbers tonight as coming back from 3 goals being a man down is virtually impossible.

Up next for the Timbers, they travel to Cincinnati next Sunday for their 3rd match of the MLS season.
