The Timbers had their 3-game winning streak snapped tonight at the hands of Cascadia rival Vancouver Whitecaps, 1-0. Freddy Montero got the winning goal just ten minutes into the match, a wonderfully hit strike with his left boot that Steve Clark had no chance to save.

The Timbers dominated the match, but just weren’t able to get a goal. They had 52 percent of possession, out shot Vancouver 27 to 12, and had 12 corner kicks to Vancouver’s 5. Time and time again Vancouver goal keeper Maxime Crepeau denied the Timbers when they looked like they were going to score. It just wasn’t Portland’s night.

The Timbers now drop to 3-1-6 on the year. Up next they head to Houston on Wednesday night, and there is just two more matches until they get to finally play a home game.
