It wasn’t a fun day for the Timbers and their fans. They conceded an own goal, in a rainy sloppy match and fell to DC United 1-0.

Timbers defender Bill Tuiloma netted an own goal in the 25th minute to hand D.C. United  a 1-0 win over the Timbers in front of 25,218 fans at Providence Park Sunday.

With the loss, the Timbers failed to gain ground in a tight Western Conference playoff race. Portland sits in sixth place in the West with five games left in the regular season. The Timbers have lost four games at home this year, the most home losses they’ve suffered in a single season since 2012.

Up next, The Timbers will host the New York Red Bulls at home Wednesday before facing Minnesota United on Sept. 22.
