Terrell Roberts, former Oregon State and NFL defensive back, died Wednesday at the age of 38 after being shot while visiting his grandmother in the Bay Area, per reports.

Roberts was visiting his grandmother when someone entered the home and shot him in the backyard of the house.

Roberts played at Oregon State form 1999-2002 and was a teammate of current Oregon State head coach Jonathan Smith.

Roberts had a fumble return for a touchdown in Oregon State’s iconic 41-9 Fiesta Bowl win over Notre Dame in 2001.
