The Seattle Seahawks used the franchise designation on defensive end Frank Clark today.

The Seahawks announcement stated that they used the non-exclusive tag. That means Clark is free to negotiate with other teams. However, if he were to sign an offer sheet that the Seahawks declined to match, Seattle would be owed two first-round picks from the other team.

With such a high price to pay upon signing Clark, it’s likely that Clark will stay a member of the Seahawks at least through 2019. Last season, Clark led the Seahawks with 13 sacks and also had four forced fumbles and an interception.
