The Seattle Seahawks claimed wide receiver Josh Gordon off waivers Friday.

New England released Gordon off injured reserve on Thursday. The embattled NFL veteran was dealing with a left knee injury, but he was knocked out of the Patriots game against New York on Oct. 10 when he attempted a tackle on a fumble.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll was surprised another team ahead of Seattle didn’t claim Gordon.

Carroll said Gordon is a “unique talent” and “he’s a big-play guy and can stretch the field.” Carroll also said Gordon would not play Sunday against Tampa Bay.
