The Portland Timbers and longtime captain and center back Liam Ridgewell have mutually agreed to part ways, the club announced Thursday.

Ridgewell played over five seasons in Portland, joining the club during the 2014 campaign.  He was a key piece and leader on the team that won the 2015 MLS Cup and went to the playoffs 3 times during Ridgewell’s stay in Soccer City.

For his career, Ridgewell totaled 97 appearances (all starts), with 8,553 minutes played, six goals scored and two assists.

Ridgewell is a two-time MLS All-Star, named in 2014 and 2016.

Update: Ridgewell has confirmed the news on social media, calling his time in Portland “one hell of an experience”
