Michael Avenatti Charged with attempting to extort Nike

Federal prosecutors in New York and California have charged celebrity attorney Michael Avenatti with extortion and bank and wife fraud.  Avenatti was charged with attempting to extort more than $20 million in payments from Nike.  Nike officials told investigators Avenatti claimed to know of rules violations by an amateur basketball team sponsored by Nike.  Nike said Avenatti threatened to make the violations public unless the company paid him millions of dollars.
