The Timbers struggles continued as they fell to LA Galaxy 2-1 Sunday night. In superstar, Zlatan Ibrahimovics, return the Galaxy were tough to defend all night. Ibrahimovic caused multiple problems for the Timbers defenders, drawing two separate penalty’s. Ibrahimovic converted both penalty’s and the Timbers were unable to respond in the 2nd half. The Timbers have now lost 3 of their first 4 matches on the year. Things don’t get any easier as they still have 8 more away games until their first home game on the season. Up next, they head to to northern California to take on the San Jose Earthquakes.

Match highlights:

33 minutes into the 1st half, Zlatan Ibrahimovic drew a penalty from Timbers defender Claude Dielna. Ibrahimovic converted that penalty kick to give the Galaxy a early 1-0 lead.

Just 11 minutes after, the Timbers responded with a goal of their own. It was a beautiful sequence with passes from David Guzman to Diego Valeri, back to Guzman, and then to Jeremy Ebobisse for the easy tap in.

15 minutes into the 2nd half, Ibrahimovic once again drew a penalty, this time from Timbers goalkeeper Jeff Attinella. Ibrahimovic converted the penalty kick with a panenka to make it 2-1 Galaxy.
