The Oregon Ducks added a much needed grad transfer last night in guard, Anthony Mathis. Mathis led the New Mexico Lobos in scoring last year with 14 points per game. Mathis played his High School ball at West Linn with current Oregon guard Peyton Pritchard. He said Pritchard already being at Oregon was a big factor in his decision.

“Fitting in with Payton again and having grown up with him, I really think that’s something I want to do – end it with Payton,” he told The Oregonian earlier this week. “We’ve always talked about playing together again. So, that’s what I hope would happen. I would love to play with coach (Dana) Altman.”

With his commitment, Oregon appears solid at the guard positions, as Mathis will join Pritchard, Will Richardson and junior college national player of the year Chris Duarte.

Oregon is also in the running for two other transfers in UNLV grad transfer Shakur Juiston and Rutgets transfer Eugene Omoruyi. Juiston hurt his knee last season, but during the 2017-18 season he averaged  14.6 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, shooting 63.9 percent from the field. Omoruyi averaged a team-high in points (13.8) and rebounds (7.2) with 2.4 assists per game for Rutgers last season.
