Florida Gator 5-star DB transfer Chris Steele signs with Oregon Ducks

The rich just got richer.

Not that Oregon is dripping with a superfluous amount of roster talent, but their 2019 recruiting class, already ranked tops in the country with the signings of top-prospect Kayvon Thibodeaux and 4-star CB Mykael Wright, just got bolstered with another secondary gift.

And by secondary gift, we mean a primary gift to the defensive backs.

On Tuesday, Chris Steele, a five-star rated defensive back who originally committed to the Florida Gators and enrolled early, announced his decision to transfer to the Oregon Ducks.

Steele revealed last week his intention to transfer out of Florida due to concerns around his roommate situation, which the program left unresolved.  Steele’s roommate was quarterback Jalon Jones, who had two accusations of sexual assault against him.

The NCAA still has to rule on Steele’s eligibility for the upcoming 2019 season but it seems likely given the circumstances that Steele will be granted immediate eligibility.

Steele is from St John Bosco High School out of Bellflower, Cal., and was the nation’s No.3 rated cornerback in the class of 2019.  Wright was the top prospect, who also signed with the Ducks back in December.
