The Portland Trail Blazers’ season took a drastic turn Monday night, as Jusuf Nurkic suffered a season-ending leg injury in the double-overtime win over the Brooklyn Nets, a win that officially clinched a playoff spot for Rip City.

Dan Patrick (Weekdays 6-9am on The GAME) gave his thoughts on the nasty injury that broke the hearts of Blazers fans who were devastated for Nurkic’s well-being.  Dan said as he learned about the injury, he chose not to see the replay, and spare himself the stomach-churning.

The Trail Blazers officially ruled Nurkic out for the rest of the season, specifying the injury as compound fractures of the tibia and fibula on his lower left leg.

Paul George and Gordon Hayward are the most conspicuous examples of NBA stars to have suffered similar injuries.  George is back to playing at a career level for the Oklahoma City Thunder, and took 8 months to get back on the court after his injury.  Hayward has also returned for the Boston Celtics after missing all but six minutes of the 2017-18 season, though he has yet to reach his peak form post-injury.
