Friday was the first Los Angeles Angels home game since the loss of pitcher Tyler Skaggs. Friday was destined to be the Angels night.

Every Angels player wore No. 45 in honor of Skaggs, the Angels pitcher who died on July 1, 2019. The Angels also held a moment of silence for Skaggs before the game.

Mike Trout hit a Home Run in the 1st inning while wearing his friend’s name and number on his back. Félix Peña pitched a dominant seven innings with his pitching brother’s name and number stitched on his jersey.

There was no other way for Friday to go. The Angels combined to throw a no-hitter with opener Taylor Cole pitching two innings before Peña’s seven drove the no-no home.

The Mariners played the part of unfortunate opponent in the storybook-like game on Friday night.

Although it came at the M’s expense, you can’t help but feel good for the LA Angels.

After the Angels celebrated and hugged on the field, the team placed their “No. 45 Tyler Skaggs” jerseys on top of his home away from home: the pitching mound.

Winning Pitcher, (7-2) Félix Peña: 7.0 IP, 0 ER, 6 K, 1 BB
